By engaging with and contributing to the local communities where we operate or expect to operate, we are proudly supporting a wide variety of social projects in Iceland and Finland, with Sweden and Denmark to be added in 2026. Iceland Finland Community initiatives in Akureyri, Iceland Ski station at Hlitharfjall, Akureyri Hlitharfjall is a prime skiing destination in Iceland, offering a variety of skiing and snowboarding experiences. The project will support improved lift infrastructure and upgraded snow-making capabilities to ensure safer, more reliable winter recreation for the local community. atNorth contributes funding that supports these upgrades, helping enhance a recreational area that residents and visitors rely on throughout the season. The annual Akureyri run atNorth is the main sponsor of the Akureyri run, the largest organised event in the city. The race is suitable for people of all ages, both experienced runners and joggers who want to participate in a fun event. Three distances are offered; 5 km, 10 km and half marathon. atNorth has committed to a multi-year partnership, ensuring the durability of the annual event in Akureyri. Thousands of volunteers dedicate themselves to work for the ICE-SAR rescue teams, accident prevention divisions and youth sections. atNorth provides a financial grant to boost their operational capacity, helping ensure they have the necessary equipment and resources to continue responding quickly and effectively when the community needs them most. Heat reuse to grow greens Excess heat from our ICE03 data center will be repurposed and used to heat greenhouses in a nearby facility, operated by Eimur and the town of Akureyri. The project will improve the regional level of sustainability by facilitating a balance between the environment, economy and society Community initiatives in Reykjavik, Iceland Reforesting in Rekjanesbær Located close to our site, the 26.9-hectare forestry area in Reykjanesbær is part of the municipality’s “Green Belt” project, aimed at land reclamation, outdoor recreation, and improving local weather conditions. The reforestation plan includes planting 1,500–2,000 trees per hectare at a lower density to accommodate trails and recreational spaces. atNorth has committed to planting 2,000 trees in 2025, jointly with our client Crusoe, to support the municipality reforestation efforts. Ljósanótt cultural festival Ljòsanòtt is the region’s largest multi-day cultural festival, celebrating music, art, and family entertainment. The festival attracts visitors of all ages, providing an opportunity for the community to come together, experience diverse cultural activities, and enjoy a safe and inclusive environment. By supporting this event, atNorth’s intention is to contribute to the local culture, strengthen community engagement and be an active participant in local life. In Kouvola, lower secondary students receive curriculum-based lessons, though instruction levels vary by region. Many children gain their basic abilities through school programs. With its support, atNorth will offer swimming and lifesaving education for all student between grades 7 and 9 in Myllykoski during the 2025–2026 school year. The initiative promotes physical activity, safety, and confidence in water, an investment in youth health, equality, and accident prevention. Recreational area in Ummeljoki Located close to our site, the southern area offers a diverse recreational environment that can be further enhanced through small, targeted improvements. Planned developments include constructing a missing section of the route, adding a campfire site and kayaking dock, and clearing the ditch with improved stormwater management. These enhancements are scheduled for implementation in spring 2026, in line with the municipality’s development plan.
