Why Finland?

The perfect location for expert connectivity

atNorth currently operates two data center facilities in Finland, with two additional sites under development.

Finland is renowned for its engineering skills and is a high-tech leader in the Nordics. Home to some of the biggest data centers in Europe, Finland offers ideal conditions for data center operations with a reliable national power grid, renewable energy, and some of Europe’s lowest electricity prices. According to Invest in Finland, it is possible to save up to 50% on total electricity costs compared to other European locations.

Finland’s year-round cool climate also supports exceptionally low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), further reducing operating costs.

1 – Finland’s natural benefits

Data centers in Finland benefit from:

  • A year-round cool climate perfect for free ambient cooling, supporting reduced operational costs and low PUE.
  • Access to renewable energy and one of Europe’s lowest electricity prices, with tax incentives for smaller data centers.
  • A reliable nationwide power grid with electricity transmission security among the best in the world.

2 – Why choose Finland for your data center?

Finland stands out as a secure, green, and cost-efficient location for data center operations:

  • Affordable green energy
Finland offers one of Europe’s lowest electricity prices, supported by a reliable national grid and renewable energy sources.
  • Circular economy
Almost every town in Finland has a district heating system. Data centers can feed excess heat into city heating networks, creating additional profit and lowering the net CO₂ footprint while improving energy reusage factors (ERF).
  • Excellent connectivity
Finland is strategically located in Europe with direct cable connections to Sweden, Estonia, and Germany, enabling robust connectivity across northern and central Europe.
