atNorth and Kesko expand heat reuse at Finnish retail location

A recent article from Intelligent Data Centres highlights the partnership between atNorth and Kesko, showcasing how heat reuse can support more sustainable retail operations in Finland.

The collaboration captures and repurposes excess heat from atNorth’s FIN02 data center, supplying the majority of heating required by a nearby Kesko store. This approach reduces reliance on district heating and is expected to lower emissions by approximately 200 tons of CO₂ annually.

The project demonstrates how data centers can contribute to local energy ecosystems while supporting partners in achieving their sustainability targets. It also reflects a broader shift toward circular economy practices, where excess energy is reused to create tangible benefits for businesses and communities.
