The article published by DataCentre Magazine highlights the increasing importance of sustainability in the data center industry, emphasizing how companies are adopting energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy sources, and circular economy principles to reduce their environmental impact.

Data centers are among the largest consumers of electricity in the world and currently account for 1–1.5% of global electricity use. With demand for computing power continuing to grow, sustainable solutions are essential to reducing environmental impact.

atNorth is recognized as a leading Nordic data center services company that prioritizes environmentally responsible, power-efficient, and cost-optimized hosting solutions. The company’s upcoming DEN02 data center, announced in September 2024 and set to open in 2025, will support colocation and build-to-suit projects for hyperscalers and businesses running AI and HPC workloads.

To ensure sustainability at DEN02, atNorth has partnered with Wa3rm, a specialist in circular and bio-based operations, to recycle excess heat from the facility for large-scale greenhouses. The site will also provide heating and hot water for local communities via the district heating supplier.

Through these initiatives, atNorth continues to integrate sustainability into its operations, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally responsible data center solutions.
